No exam is required to attain your A-CSM certification. You only need to complete the 2-day course and to register at least 1-year of recent relevant work experience in a Scrum Master or equivalent role.
Are there any prerequisites for the A-CSM course?
Some pre-work course work may be requested by your trainer, however there are no prerequisites for the course aside from those set by the Scrum Alliance. Completion of the Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master Course and one year’s experience working in a Scrum Master role or equivalent.
My CSM certification has expired, do I need to re-sit the CSM course and exam before I can complete the A-CSM?
If you have an expired CSM but wish to attend an A-CSM course, it is not necessary to renew your CSM certification. After successfully completing the A-CSM course and registering 12 months of work experience with the Scrum Alliance, you will earn A-CSM certification which will automatically renew the previously expired CSM.
For example, if your CSM expired in 2017 and you gain certification as an A-CSM in September 2020, both your CSM and A-CSM will be active until September 2022.
Can I attend the A-CSM course without the required work experience?
Yes. You can take the course and then work towards getting your required 1-year work experience. Once you have the experience you can update your profile in your Scrum Alliance members dashboard, and you will be awarded your A-CSM certification.
Will there be regular breaks given the CSM course is online?
Yes. We understand the online learning environment can be more challenging that in a classroom, so we have structured the training with regular breaks including a longer break for lunch to keep concentration and energy levels up.
