Good News In The Gloom

Updated: Jun 18

" As jobs are transformed by the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we need to re-skill more than 1 billion people by 2030"

Scrum roles are forecast to lead the pack of new jobs in the biggest demand as future technologies and automation eliminate millions of existing positions. In anticipation The World Economic Forum is calling for the re-skilling of millions.

The WEF says this RE-SKILLING REVOLUTION is essential to meet the challenge of an estimated loss - forever - of 75 million jobs due to automation and technological integration.

The elimination of all those jobs will roll out over the next decade but to balance that gloom the WEF says millions of new roles can be created IF skills needed for the future can be learned today.

And to provide focus for this monumental task it has created lists or essential roles that it predicts will be in the biggest demand in ten years' time.

For Product Development - Scrum and Agile Roles have taken 3 out of the top 9 spots...

  • #1 Product Owner

  • #3 Agile Coach

  • #6 Scrum Master

The Bottom Line

Change is not easy, transformation to new ways of working is always hard.

In an uncertain, unpredictable, scary world take reassurance from knowing that an organisation as influential as the World Economic Forum has taken a look at the future of work and is forecasting that Scrum Roles are going to be urgently needed to keep the global economic wheels turning.
